That's a good question. What is possible?
Is it possible to feel better tomorrow than you do today? Yes.
Is it possible to have more energy next week than you do right now? Yes.
Is it possible to be stronger next month than you are right now? Yes.
Is it possible to have more self confidence in 90 days than what you feel right now? Yes.
Is it possible to move better, to feel better in your own skin, to wake up with less aches and pains than you did this morning? Yes.
Is it possible to reverse the effects of an unhealthy lifestyle... possibly even get to the point where you can stop taking your medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, depression, pain, diabetes, or any number of other conditions? Yes... I've seen it. It is possible.
Yes! Yes! Yes! All of these things are within the realm of possibility.
What stands in your way? I know the secret....
It's your mindset!
Your thoughts always precede your decisions. Your decisions (regardless of how brief they may occur) always precede your actions. And your actions or inaction always precedes the resulting outcome.
So, if you want to change the outcome of the coming days, weeks, months, or even years of your life.... you must first control your mindset!
3 months from now it will be early September. What will September (and beyond) have in store for you? By September, it is quite possible that you could have lost a significant amount of body fat. With a few changes in the decisions you make on how to spend your time and what food or drinks that you put into your body, you could easily have much more energy, self-confidence, and lean muscle mass by September. What will your mirror show in 3 months? How will you feel in the mornings? How easily could you do something as simple as pick up a piece of paper from the floor? You can certainly be much happier and feel much better with all of these things in 3 months time.
So what's stopping you?
Rest assured, you could also easily be in worse shape, be heavier, be another size larger, have less energy, have higher blood pressure, be overcome by stress, and be on yet another medication by September.
Which is it going to be?
Remember, the outcome of the next 3 months is in your control. It's simply a matter of your mindset. September will be here in exactly 3 months whether you like it or not. Why not like it?
You have the choice! Be confident! Be positive! If you need help with where to start, then ask!
Direct your mindset. Make a decision. Take action. Enjoy the outcome.
It's up to you.

What Do You Really Want?
Seriously folks, that is an important question! What is it that you truly want for yourself physically? If you were to sit down all by yourself and honestly write down exactly what you want in regards to your physical condition, what would it say? I challenge you to do this. Be truthful and open with yourself. After that, take that piece of paper (or maybe entire notebook for some of us) and set it aside for an hour or so....either way, make sure that you come back to it and read it again to yourself carefully. There is something that I encourage many of my clients to do and that is to think of your progress towards your fitness goals as a journey. I guarantee you that nobody reaches their goals overnight, regardless of how bad we may want to. So first, you must get very real with yourself about what your destination is exactly. What will you feel like when you get there? How will your clothes feel? What kind of energy or mental clarity will you have? How will you look in the mirror? What will you look like in those family pictures? What kind of compliments will you get? What will your friends or spouse say to you? This is important to think about because unless you fully understand your destination, then how will you know whether you are making progress along the way? In other words, once we know the goal...then we can measure progress appropriately. Frustration can set in when we are looking for the wrong markers of progress along the way.
If it is important to you to wear a certain dress size, or to have those jeans fit a little looser, then why would you rely on the bathroom scale to tell you how you are doing? What does the scale really tell you anyways? I've known many people who commit to an effective, proper eating and exercise program and begin to shed body fat and lose inches, only to get frustrated when their bathroom scale didn't register a change in the first few weeks that they were following the program. What the scale failed to show was that they were increasing the muscle mass throughout their body which, in turn was boosting their metabolism through the roof. Their bodies were storing more energy and quite possibly more efficiently storing water in their muscles. All of these things weigh something! At the same time, they were losing quite a bit of weight in body fat. However, when you add it all up their total body weight may have stayed relatively stable. They wanted to be more trim, fit into a certain size of clothes and generally feel better... all of which was happening! But they couldn't get past what the scale was showing and ultimately gave up out of frustration.
That was just an example of how looking for the wrong markers of progress can get in the way of ultimately reaching your destination. My point is that if you want change....clarify the goal.

Here we go!
Okay, so here we are! My first blog post on the Smart Fitness blog. So here's the deal... for those who don't know me I have spent most of the last decade of my life helping others to change their bodies and lives for the better. Way back in college (it seems so long ago now), I committed myself to become a personal fitness trainer. I had no clue what I was getting myself into.
Over the years, I have been pretty fortunate really. With a lot of hard work and sacrifice, I've now found myself in a position where my advice and guidance is trusted by many, sought out by more, and somehow I've managed to earn a living at the same time. Now that I have this blog up and running, I am excited to begin to share with you many things that you may not know about fitness and nutrition. In the following posts, I will reveal to you many things that will most likely surprise you... and could very well shake the very foundation of what you think you know about how to get into shape and find the body you have always been looking for! I promise you this: The things that you will soon read on here are based on truth and have been proven to be true and effective countless times over. I will also pull back the curtain and reveal how many products, programs, and mainstream diets are simply built to FAIL. Not only that, but you will learn why they fail and, in turn, I will teach you how to use that knowledge in your favor...and ultimately succeed! Subscribe to this blog and join me on the journey to living your best life!
